How do you NAIL a commercial audition?

I have gone on several commercial auditions before and only gotten one as an extra, and it was mainly because of my red hair standing out. I am a good actress, I have been in professional plays and got a small role on the Hallmark Channel, but I can never seem to get commercials! Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful and I realize some people go on HUNDREDS of auditions before getting a small role or an extra, but could anyone give me some tips? I only have one line. It's, "Mom, Adam didn't eat all of his food!" and I am saying it like I am tattling. Do you have some tips for me? What do commercial directors look for? I have a good look for it, I believe, and I am a pretty good actress, I just need to know what they usually look for. Thanks!
WHY WON'T THIS QUESTION SHOW UP IN THE THEATER AND ACTING SECTION??? IT'S BEEN 10 MINUTES!
Okay, good, but actually answer my question if you're going to type anything.

I'm 19 and when I was younger I got plenty of commercial roles!

The one thing that set me apart from the other girls auditioning, was that I was natural. I didn't overact. I was just a regular girl. I said my lines, I wasn't trying to impress anyone. I was friendly, confident and to me, acting was fun. It wasn't stressful. I walked into the audition with an 'if I don't get called back, then who cares...' type of attitude. I listened to everything the casting directors told me. I followed the dress code too...At one audition, the dress code was casual clothing. My grandma and grandpa took me to this one as my parents were out of town during that time. They put me in overalls, a yellow shirt, runners and my hair was just down. Casual. I got there and all the other little girls were in nice dresses or jeans and fancy t-shirts. Their hair was curled and primped and they looked like barbie dolls. Not casual! I ended up booking the commercial and they said they liked that I followed the directions.

So I guess...Be yourself. Don't try to impress anyone. Typically the casting directors are looking for someone down to earth when casting young kids/teens. Be friendly and polite. Follow directions and listen. If you don't understand something they tell you to do while in the room, kindly ask them to repeat it. They won't scold you, they'll probably be pleased to know you're listening! Don't over act.
