the effects of rock salt on a driveway?
My landlord recently had our driveway re-paved and claims that throwing rock salt down can damage the driveway. We just got hit a couple days back with that nor'easter and have over an inch of ice in our parking spots. is this true? Can throwing some rock salt down cause damage to the driveway?
omg.. salt is the worst thing ever,
use sand, not salt, if you have a concrete driveway. Any de-icer products or even fertilizers made with ammonium nitrate will
chemically react with concrete and should be avoided. The best thing to
use is just plain sand but if you have to, you can choose de-icers that
use calcium chloride or sodium chloride. your landlord is correct
