If I am going to make this necklace, for how long do I knot on each side of the 7 beads?

Here is a picture of what I want to make:

And how many square knots do I put between each bead?

The number of knots on either side of the 6 beads will depend on a couple of different things:

1. How long do you do you want the necklace to be?
2. How tight do you knot? (If you knot really hard, the knots will be smaller than if you tie looser knots.)

Rather than trying to count the knots, get a ruler out.

1. Determine the overall length you want the necklace to be. You want the hemp you will knot around to be a few inches longer on both sides so that you have a tail that you can tie later.

2. Knot your hemp together leaving the tail at the end.

3. From your knot find the overall length you want the necklace to be. Mark this spot with a pen or tie a small string tightly so it won't come loose.

4. Find the middle of the necklace between the knot and your end marker. Now measure about 1.5 inches from the middle in both directions - this will give you 3 inches total for the beads in the center. Mark these two spots.

4. Knot down to your first marker, removing the string if you used a string marker. Add your beads and knot around them. If you find your are really far away or over your marker, you can make your knots looser or tighter, or add or subtract the extra bead.

5. After the beads are added, knot up to the end marker and finish your necklace as you normally would.

5. Knot back up to the e

As to your second question, it looks like just one square knot between each bead.
