I have a hand stitched quilt that has the date it was made 1924. How can I find out the value?
Money value? Get it appraised.
"There are certified appraisers in every state. To find an appraiser in your area, please write to: American Quilter's Society, P.O. Box 3290, Paducah, KY 42002-3290, or call (270) 898-7903." quoted from the link below.
Appraisers who charge on the basis of the quilt's value are, in some venues, considered to unethical. According to the link below, $40 is a current nigh-standard fee for a single written appraisal.
I don't recommend shipping quilts. They can get lost too easily, and without the appraisal, you have no proof of value.
